Keri Gurganus' Showcase
This page shows some of the amazing lessons, projects and activities that I have taken from my Masters of Education program at Michigan State University. Growing up I always wanted to be a teacher and I thought that being a teacher was using books and standing in front of the class teaching my students. This program has showed me that being a teacher is so much more than that. I learned that when teaching you have to be creative and meet your students at whatever level they are at. My focus areas have really given me the tools to do just that. My focus areas throughout my program were Science and Mathematics Education and Technology and Learning. Throughout my classes I have gained new ideas that I incorporate everyday within my own classroom and help other teachers in my district to do the same.

This link showcases a website that I created for an elementary classroom. This website offers online reading instruction and assessment. This site also includes group discussion areas where students can post questions and comments to work with others in a group study format.
Summer ReadingCLICK HERE
This link showcases a plan of action that I created to help my students over summer break. In my literacy class I was taught that students do not grow over the summer in reading because they are not taking the time to read. I purchased a software program called; Raz-Kids and used this as a pilot to offer my students a different approach on summer reading that goes above and beyond the confines of a book cover.

In my courses at Michigan State I was taught the importance of this concept and because of that I created this video to help my student gain a better understanding of the life cycle of a frog.
